History

The History of Republican Club of the Palm Beaches (RCPB)

RCPB was originally formed in 1953, chartered by the National Federation of Republican Women; it is the longest, continuous club in Palm Beach County (meeting since 1949). RCPB received a charter by Republican Party of FL (RPOF) in 2007 after amending its By-Laws to reflect RPOF rules, which included male membership. As of November, 2009, approximately 1/3 of the membership is male. RCPB added more than 50 new members in 2009, doubling the membership which continues to expand monthly.

In 2007, the leadership of RCPB began to plan programs essential for today’s political climate. With a range of membership from young to old, RCPB delivers its message in multiple forms, including: Email with “immediate action items”, website www.gopclubpb.com, and monthly post card meeting reminders. The Club also disseminates its message through an active phone committee.

RCPB started 2009 with the objective to Make A Difference. RCPB facilitated the program, “Project Citizen”, for over six months with a focus on Illegal Immigration and County Taxes. The monthly goal was to educate and motivate the members to take an active role in the community. The single largest benefit to the Club’s principles is that the members are now taking an active role in City and County government, including appearances at Commission meetings.

The Anne Roberts Memorial Scholarship, which honors a founding member and a recipient of the Jean Pipes Award, is available to any Republican student seeking to further their education (undergraduate or graduate). Current members may refer applicants for this scholarship. In 2009, RCPB made the commitment to follow the Scholarship recipients annually, up to 4 years with a $500 Scholarship, considering the criteria is met.

RCPB has encouraged youth participation by sponsoring students for both Spring Break Camps and Summer Camps with Inner City Youth Golf.

We encourage others who share the RCPB mission—“to mentor, facilitate and enable Republicans of all age groups and walks of life to make a meaningful difference in the area of politics and good governance– locally, statewide and nationally” — to help us in the delivery of the founding principles that made this country great.
